When I was a kid, our family doctor from Union City got locked up for selling machine guns. After the good healer was sentenced to many decades, one wag had him exclaiming to the judge, “How’m I supposed to do all this time?” And the judge’s measured reply: “Don’t worry; just do what you can.”
A dozen or so years later I asked Hal (someone very well-informed about the NJ penal system) how Doc had fared in an institutional setting. Seems that a structured environment was just what the Dr. needed as he “was doing great, actually running the place [the prison hospital].”
